Instead I bought 3(!) biographies on Keanu Reeves. One's even from a library. It's cool. ^^ But not completely satisfactory. Better than nothing, I'd say.
Lol well Im sorry.
I have to say The River bio is very satisfying Razz Detailed aswell.

I only read 30 pages of "Keanu". ^^ I also have a big slim magazine-like book with big pictures. Which is also cool.
Oh wow, sounds awesome (:

"Keanu Reeves - An Excellent Adventure" is something in between the two. "Keanu" is like a proper biography and the other two are a bit more... trashy. ^^
"Keanu" and "trashy" omg not a good combination ;p

My Own Private Idaho - A B-52's song...
http://youtu.be/n7t7cGwN7_0

Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo
You're living in your own Private Idaho
Living in your own Private Idaho
Underground like a wild potato.
Don't go on the patio.
Beware of the pool,
Blue bottomless pool.
It leads you straight
Right through the gate
That opens on the pool.
You're living in your own Private Idaho.
You're living in your own Private Idaho.
Keep off the path, beware the gate,
Watch out for signs that say "hidden driveways".
Don't let the chlorine in your eyes
Blind you to the awful surprise
That's waitin' for you at
The bottom of the bottomless blue blue blue pool.
You're livin in your own Private Idaho. Idaho.
You're out of control, the rivers that roll,
You fell into the water and down to Idaho.
Get out of that state,
Get out of that state you're in.
You better beware.
You're living in your own Private Idaho.
You're living in your own Private Idaho.
Keep off the patio,
Keep off the path.
The lawn may be green
But you better not be seen
Walkin' through the gate that leads you down,
Down to a pool fraught with danger
Is a pool full of strangers.
You're living in your own Private Idaho,
Where do I go from here to a better state than this.
Well, don't be blind to the big surprise
Swimming round and round like the deadly hand
Of a radium clock, at the bottom, of the pool.
I-I-I-daho
I-I-I-daho
Woah oh oh woah oh oh woah oh oh
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah
Get out of that state
Get out of that state
You're living in your own Private Idaho,
Livin in your own Private Idaho.

Development

The origins of My Own Private Idaho came from John Rechy's 1963 novel, City of Night, which featured characters who were street hustlers who did not admit to being gay.[1] Van Sant's original screenplay was written in the 1970s, when he was living in Hollywood.[2] After reading Rechy's book, Van Sant realized that it was considerably better than what he was writing, so he shelved the script for years. In 1988, while editing Mala Noche, Van Sant met a street kid named Michael Parker who became a source of inspiration for the character of Mike in what would later become My Own Private Idaho.[2] Parker also had a friend named Scott, a street kid like himself. In the script, Van Sant adapted the Scott character to that of a rich kid. The character of Scott was also fashioned after people Van Sant had met in Portland who were street hustlers.[2]
Early drafts of the screenplay were set on Hollywood Boulevard, not Portland, with working titles such as Blue Funk and Minions of the Moon.[3] Reading Rechy's novel had convinced Van Sant to change the setting to Portland.[4] The script originally consisted of two separate scenarios: the first was called Modern Days and it recounted Mike's story; a second one updated the Henry IV plays with Scott's story.[5] Van Sant realized that he could blend the two stories together in the manner of the "cut up" technique used by writer William S. Burroughs.[5] In essence, this method involves various story fragments and ideas mixed and matched together to form a unique story. The idea to combine the two scenarios formed in Van Sant's mind after watching Orson Welles' Chimes at Midnight.[5] The director remembers, "I thought that the Henry IV plays were really a street story. I also knew this fat guy named Bob, who had always reminded me of Falstaff and who was crazy about hustler boys". Van Sant realized that Prince Hal in the plays resembled the character of Scott and the sidekick was Mike. His script ended up becoming a literal restructuring of the Henry IV plays.[6] Van Sant got the idea for Mike's narcolepsy from a man who was a guide of sorts when the director was gathering material for the film. According to the director, he always looked like he was about to fall asleep.[7] The film's title is derived from the song "Private Idaho" by the B-52's that Van Sant heard while visiting the state in the early 1980s.[8]
Van Sant showed the script to an executive at 20th Century Fox who liked Shakespeare.[6] Eventually, he toned down the Shakespeare and made the language more modern. Van Sant was also working on a short story called My Own Private Idaho which he intended to film. It was 25 pages long and was about two Latino characters on the streets of Portland who go in search of their parents and travel to a town in Spain. One of them falls in love with a girl and leaves the other behind.[6] Van Sant had another script called The Boys of Storytown, which had the Mike and Scott characters and Mike had narcolepsy. The characters of Hans and Bob were also present. Van Sant wanted to make the film but felt that the script was not finished.[9] While editing Drugstore Cowboy, Van Sant combined the scripts for Modern Days and Storytown with the Idaho short story.[9]

Romulus, My Father - Raimond Gaita

It's quite rare for me to enjoy school-assigned texts, but I'm enjoying this one so far!

Soooo guys, I'm on the last pages of "Der Steppenwolf" and I will re-read 1984 soon, hopefully. *excited* Oh yeah, I'm weird, right? I'm more excited about the prospect of reading this book again than about Christmas. XD

Hahaha. XD I think that's really fascinating. Actually... I watched the film again... um... a couple of weeks ago and I thought about their friendship again and... I think it was vital for the film. No matter how good an actor you are, it's very different if you actually are friends in real life as well.

Yeah, I knooowwww, right? Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I used to be really obsessed with them, still am now, but... nothing compared to spring/summer this year.

They complemented each other. River was this beautiful kid raised by hippie parents, whose life was never all that easy. But he was so wonderful. Sad He was quite close to perfect for me.

And then there's... Laughing Keanu. Who always amuses me. That man... Without him I would probably never have watched "My Own Private Idaho" and Keanu is really good in it, but River is just... brilliant. I do think it's his best performance - OK, apart from MOPI I only watched "Running On Empty", "Explorers", "Stand By Me" and "Dogfight", but I don't believe any of his other performances can top Mike Waters. Love Love Love

Love at first sight.

In nomine patris, Et filii...Et Spiritus Sancti.

Oh God, I just got so excited looking through my John Constantine tags. Love I think... That's Keanu's best performance.

Not his best role though.

Because that...

Rue Britannia - Keiron Gillen and Jamie Mckelvie

Today I read this (my first ever comic!) on the recommendation of a very kind and superbly insightful man on Tumblr. It is a fantasy story about Britpop. It sounds like it wouldn't work and I was apprehensive of reading it at first but by the end I had completely changed my mind. It's brilliant. Very Happy

I'm reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. His style is so incomparibly beautiful. I can completely disregard the meaning of the words and just drown myself in the eloquent beauty of his phrasing. So elegant. So intoxicating. Of course, then to actually absorb the meanings of the text is to elevate the experience to a level of joy that I thought was only possible when listening to BRMC or The Vines Razz ESPECIALLY Lord Henry's fabulously witty monologues. I swear, this book articulates so many thoughts that have cursed my mind, but which I lacked the eloquence to express. Wilde is a true master of words.

But hey, can't you just borrow it? There're such things like libraries ;p (or have they already gone out of use? Wink)

Well, to be frank, my school library is hopeless. :') And though I don't know about the town library in regards to this specific book (though they had none of Conan Doyle's books! Shocked so...), I really need to buy a copy because it would be a tad ridiculous if I had to continually renew it for a whole year. Razz
