Alright,
I figure there will probably be a few members here who can play some form of an instrument and maybe there are others who write their own material, too. Anyway, I thought this thread could be a good idea to share your songs and see what other people think of them. Don't be shy! I'll get the ball rolling first...
This is the first song off of the last demo my band recorded.
I also do a lot of home recordings without the full band, too. They're not perfect in anyway, but I just record them so I have a rough idea of what they'll sound like when we record them properly as a band. Anyway, here's some stuff I've been working on at home.
Well, that'll do for now. Hopefully some people will post some of their own stuff as well, but we'll see. As for my own songs, as ever, I'd be very interested to hear people's opinions. I hope you enjoy them.

Great idea for a thread.
Okay, I've listened to them all a few times each now and I can definitely hear improvements in these three songs when comparing them to the other two I have from 2009 (?). They all seem a bit less constrained - though I do love that stripped back sound - and the improvements are clear. Lyrically, vocally and musically all three songs seem more advanced.
When I first listened to Annie I immediately noticed, and was happy to hear, the electric guitar in the mix. I was also pleasantly surprised to note how cohesive it was, the bass and electric guitar definitely make a difference. Oh, and is that German ("Ich liebe dich") I hear towards the end, or am I just insane?
Everything and Nothing is really beautiful, definitely my favourite of the three. The lyrics, layering of the vocals (and their position among the acoustic guitar and drums) and the instrument (is it a melodica?) that comes in towards the end give it a very assured and complete sound.
There's No Such Thing As The Future has great energy and progression, and is perhaps a bit more adventurous than the other two, but in my opinion the drums are a bit loud and take the focus away from / smother those features.
Also, you recorded those last two by yourself, right? Very impressive!
Anyway, I hope I wasn't too critical. And I have to say I really enjoyed them.

You really are a star, Elena. I didn't expect a reply from anyone so soon, haha. Maybe you'd just been waiting in suspense all those years for new material. I'm really glad you enjoyed it though and again, I appreciate your kind words. For what it's worth, I didn't think you were really that critical at all, so don't worry about it. I do agree with what you said regarding There's No Such..... The levels in the song aren't right and the drums are a little loud, but those were the first batch of songs I recorded using a backing track, so to be honest, I didn't have any idea what I was doing. The newest songs I've done sound a little better in that regard. Either way, personally, I'm not that bothered about it because as I said in my opening post, it's just a rough idea. It'll sound better when it's recorded in a studio. Anyway, about Annie, I just posted that because that's a proper studio version and it's more like how we'd sound live rather than the acoustic home demo's. People are always surprised if they get into my home stuff first and then come to a show because they're always like; "wtf? didn't kno u guyz played metal?!?!". And yes, there's an "Ich liebe Dich" and an "Ich vermisse Dich" somewhere in that song. Nice spot. The thing I love most about your post is that Everything and Nothing is your favourite of the three, as well. Even though I wrote it, I genuinely love that song and I'm very proud of it. I'd probably listen to it more if it didn't depress the hell out of me, hahaha. The one downside to knowing what it's about. Really though, thank you for taking the time to listen to them. You've really made my day.

Indeed, maybe I have. haha.
No problem, and I'm glad you don't think I was too critical.
Yeah, that's fair enough and it makes sense to not worry about it, especially if they were the first to be recorded.
Yeah! I was actually going to say that you can really get a feel of what you'd sound like live more so from Annie than any other track. Haha, I laughed at that, "wtf? didn't kno u guyz played metal?!?!". Band with electric guitars = automatically metal, right?
Oh cool, I thought I could hear another phrase in German but I couldn't quite make it out, which is embarrassing considering my parents are from Germany. :$
There's nothing wrong with loving and being proud of your own creation. In fact, you should love it and be proud of it most out of everyone, especially since it's obvious how much of your heart has gone into it, and how close its subject matter is to you. I think it's only natural that there definitely must be a correlation between a musician's passion in a song, and the meaning of it to themselves, and how strongly it conveys and touches other people, strangers especially.
Awh, it's no trouble at all! ^_^ I'm glad.

^ My review of the songs: Good, profound, simple and with a good portion of originality. But I couldn't apreciate fully the lyrics. If only the voice-track was clearer. All I can summarize is that the alternative and indie style is very well accomplished.

Thank you for your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed them. It's ashame that there's not many fellow musicians on here, but then again, there's hardly anyone at all. Maybe someone will post something one day or something. Anyway, I recorded a new song in my room earlier on today, so I'm just going to post it here.
If anyone's got time, I'd like to hear your opinion.

Having heard Annie more carefully, it's perfectly comparable with bands like Pixies! so in this case is a rather a very well accomplished Grunge song. Song definitely approved.

Sure. I like it. what I value the most is the singing, is cool. The chords tend to be predictable in radio music. what marks a cool difference is the melody, "prose", attitude. Anyways the chords vary with certain unpredictability too. So it's good too. I wonder why is that fresh creations are way better than old stuff? Must add: is a representative title "This Will Be Over Soon", and so, it can have diverse interpretations.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to the song. You have no idea how much it means to me, you really don't. I really hope you enjoyed it though.

No problem. I did enjoy it.
. Alright, now let me play you the song of my people. ♫ I hope you appreciate this:
Seriously I wrote this song years ago. It has a Beck / Perry Farrell influence. Today I recorded it 100% digital (simpler than gathering a real band of like-minded musicians).

That's you? If so, that's brilliant. You're a really good piano player. The song's not that bad either, to be honest. I like the progression of the vocals, too. The song in general progresses really well and by the end of it, I was throughly enjoying it. Honestly.

Yeah, thanks!!! Probably my song is not easy to dig only by audio, so I made this video showing how I play the piano. Not only that, I recorded the audio directly to my computer at the same time (cos cameras aren't good at audio), and then put it all together using Camstasia Studio.
Well, I'm really glad and inspired with the comments.
I must add that I actually have experience in this: been involved in a rock band and practiced in studio environment.
* Btw, check this song: Perry Farrell, any similarities?

Well, basically:
"No vino a ser mejor, tampoco seguidor. He didn't came to become the best, neither a follower. Una desventura especial, verdaderamente anormal... A special misfortune, truly atypical...
Será omnipresente..cuando venza a la mente? Shall he become omnipresent..when he defeats the Mind? Una desgracia superior, ha surgido a su favor. A disgrace of a superior kind, has emerged on his favor."
Not very cheerful lyrics

I've genuinely enjoyed everything that's been posted in here. I hope people continue to post their ideas. I'm going to try and post something once I've recorded these new songs I've been working on, but they still need a bit of work.

I know no-one cares, but I created a Sound Cloud account and I've uploaded a few new songs. Maybe someone out there will appreciate them.
