| A couple of things:
1. On hearing the first couple of tunes, I thought the album would be a bit meh. I was worried that Craig had adopted the same old 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mentality of the last 2 albums. However, I spent most of yesterday listening to the NME stream and I think Wicked Nature is a real step up from Melodia and Future Primitive. I think Craig has developed as a lyricist and I have to say I prefer the production of CD2, mostly because I have always been a sucker for Craig's lavish vocal layering.
Stand out tracks for me are "Funny Thing", "Venus Fly Trap" and "Truth".
2. Re the PledgeMusic Target - if the target is a financial value, then the number of pledges it takes to hit 100% will be less if the pledgers are buying the more expensive items (i.e. the test pressing etc.).

| Quite enjoying the new album, will need to give it a few more listens to form an opinion (rather than the hype) For the PledgeMusic target, they are able to re-adjust the financial target. This is clearly what has happened in the past week to ensure the project is successful. | |

Yeah, I was noticing it going up without the expensive items being bought, so it seemed weird. But now '1969' said they can change the target, it seems to make more sense! Anyway, over 100% now so that's all that matters!

| Hey guys, I found another review of wicked nature. It's a pretty positv one. http://www.thelineofbestfit.com/reviews/albums/the-vines-wicked-natureI don't know what's your opinion, but I'm already in big love with this new album. I also love Melodia and Future Primitive, but for me Wicked Nature is an improvement compared to the last 2 albums. What do you think? | |

| Wicked Nature is my favorite Vines album at the moment, I like everything on it. Venus Fly Trap, Truth, Good Enough, Lady Bug, Metal Zone rank in my favorite Vines songs of all time already! i love the lyrics on this album, very Craig-like Anyone speculate hes smoking ganja again? I only ask as a fellow artist because you can tell the difference in the final product if he has or not. Can't wait to see what the physical Vine-L package looks like! What does everyone like? | |

| It's a pretty solid release. Considering the thin production of Melodia & the lack of focus on Future Primitive, it's a definite improvement from the past couple of releases. For a 22-track album it has what I think is very little filler, which is something to definitely commend. However, If Craig just used the best cuts from both discs, he could of had a bloody awesome album that doesn't let down in any areas whatsoever. Solid double album//flawless single disc, faces the same issue as Foo Fighters 'In Your Honor' & Deadmau5 'While (1<2) Guardian reviewDIY MagazineAll Ages Concerts Sydney | |

| ROLLING STONE AUSTRALIA - OCTOBER 2014
THE VINES DOUBLE DOSE - By Barry Divola
3/5
FEW bands have self-destructed quite so publicly as the Vines. The band was - and is- a vehicle for the mercurial but troubled Craig Nicholls, who infamously melted down at a Sydney show in 2004 before revealing his mental  health issues in court. Although it halted the band's career in its tracks and put a stop to extensive touring, Nicholls has managed to release 6 albums in 12 years. This latest incarnation of the band - with Lachlan West on drums and Tim John on bass - is completely different to the group that recorded the last album, 2011's 'Future Primitive'. Whatever Nicholls' personal issues may be, they certainly haven't affected his productivity. 'Wicked Nature' is a two-CD set featuring 22 tracks. He was never one to make a song outstay its welcome, and the bulk of these are in and out of there before the 3 minute mark. He was always equallt enamoured with Sixties British invasion & Nineties grunge. That hasn't changed. In fact, just about nothing has changed. You could call him remarkably consistent - or, if you were being less charitable, remarkably unimaginative. 'Green Utopia', for example, has the same distorted over-drive, simple rhymes, shredded vocals and drug references as many songs from the Vines back pages. With that said, it still ricochets around your skull and makes you want to play air drums for two-and-a-half minutes. His weakness for trippy ballads - 'Venus Fly Trap', 'Into the Fire' - is still in evidence too, and there are too many of them on the more ponderous second disc. Besides, the ideal Vines album is 30 minutes long. The words 'Second disc' are just wrong.

| So apparently the physical album was released a few days ago here in Australia, with it already being on Spotify.
Any reason why Pledgemusic fans have to wait longer? Seems pretty unfair all those people that pre-ordered it didn't even get the livestream before everyone else, now we have to wait longer to get the album download :\

I don't see why they couldn't reward pledgers with the digital download early at least!

| i really dig the album!!!!! i won't lie - i'm surprised i like it so much. i really wasn't into Future Primitive. but this album is pretty fucking bad ass all the way through.
only criticism is that i think Craig holds himself back on some songs from really taking the song to its limit. most of the songs clock in at about 2:20 and are like verse chorus. which is standard garage rock and vines style, but i always love when something unexpected happens like In the Jungle, 1969, SPaceship.
but overall this album fucking rules.
Too many favourites to list them all off but i am currently headbanging to Rave It. DOPE!!!! also the production on this album is as good as it has been since Winning Days. All the songs sound amazing!!!!

| Listened to the album on the weekend as well. It's all good but Disk 1 is better than Disk 2 though.
Damn, I wish Craig wasn't stubborn mule and would try and be on social media more often.

| Does anyone know how long those that pledged will have to wait to get their Wicked Nature CD. I walked into JB Hi Fi today and they had it on the rack. I had the CD in my hand and then I had to put it back. I hope we don't have to wait too long!!! | |

| MY THOUGHTS!!!!!!!
1.) I wish that disc two was promoted more as just like...disc of "bonus tracks" or "b-sides". It's clear that the first disc is an album all on it's own, and promoting them together as one giant album doesn't feel organic. That, and disc one is miles and miles better than disc two.
2.) I wish they took the absolute best tracks from both discs and made one EXCELLENT record. There would only need to be a few changes, really, since disc one pretty much IS the best, but still.
3.) I still wish Craig put a little more effort into developing these songs. He needs to find a producer that has the courage to tell him to add a little more meat to the bones on his songs. I listen to a song like Good Enough that has such a great melody and just wish there was a little more to it. I can picture some twangy guitar picking for about 20 seconds before the vocals kick in, maybe a unique solo halfway in...it just doesn't feel complete!!!! Songs like Out the Loop obviously feel just fine being short, but other tracks are begging for a little more substance. It only bothers me because there are so many amazing melodies this time around, it seems like a few wasted opportunities. I also think that Wicked Nature (the song) could have been a little more varied during it's final 2 minutes of jamming. One of the few longer songs on there, and nothing amazing seems to be happening. There's nothing wrong with dragging a song on for a bit like that, but listen to "1969". That songs rocks on for a good 3-4 minutes after the main melody fades, but there's so much variation in the instrumentation. I just wish Craig would look back at what he made on his first album and realize that a tiny bit more thought can make a C- song an A+.
All that being said, there's some great stuff here and I'm glad this band is still putting out new material. I wish Craig and the guys were a little more interactive with the world. They seem to just want the music to speak for itself...do some interviews, guys!!!
