'In Miracle Land Tour' announced on facebook. Just Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane so not really a tour but it seems like Craig's easing himself into playing live again. I'm guessing there'll be an album announcement soon. Presumably it's called 'In Miracle Land' too as they wouldn't still be plugging the single that was released months ago. Also, the poster looks like potential album art, but very similar to Wicked Nature.

This week, there will be 3 liveshows. Is anyone going to visit one of these shows? If so, I hope we will get some videos of the concerts. I'm super exited to hear some new songs as well as the old stuff

Just got back from seeing The Vines at Oxford Arts Factory, the guys sounded great as usual. The set was a little short though, only 40 minutes long and no encore. The venue was like a sauna, the air conditioning was struggling to cope and I'm guessing that had something to do with the brief set! The new music was great, reminded me of the Winning Days album a bit (my personal fave album). I recorded Star Gazer and Highly Evolved and will post in the next day or two.

Thanks so much for sharing!!! I think he is saying Sky Gazer Don't know about you guys, but I really really like that song already, can't wait for it to be released! I love the little guitar riff at the beginning and in the middle, and also the change of tempo, it's like going into a dream. Love it!

I was there too, Allie! Something told me there'd be at least another forum member there last night (I was betting on either you or Kitty).
Managed to cop a setlist from the band as well. They happened to play no less than 5 new songs off the album as well which I was genuinely surprised at, & they didn't even pull out In Miracle Land for that matter. I agree that most of the new songs very much well gave off a Winning Days vibe, the punchiness of most of their singles wasn't prevalent in most of the new songs, except for "I Wanna Go Down' (which I originally thought was 'I Wanna Go Die" - very edgy Craig). Most carry through with open chords, spacial changes in the structure, & very much well a classic psych rock vibe when lifted with the solos.
Broken Heart (originally premiered at the Newtown acoustic gig) sounds very much like Autumn Shade structure wise. No 'real' chorus to the song, & the second half of the track is primarily Craig's solo work carrying the melody along until the end. Genuinely surprising to see it played in that setting, however I still prefer the acoustic version, it felt far more harrowing & intimate for the lyrical content as well.
Hate the Sound, opener of the night, was probably the Vines-iest song of them all (clean verses, punchy chorus, similar lyrical themes to that of Anything you Say). From what I remember it'll be the opening song off the new album as well, which is in classic Vines style, starting them off strong as always (A la Highly Evolved//Ride//Anysound//Get Out//Gimme Love//Metal Zone).
Sky Gazer is fockin' hectic I can tell you that much, Allie is a Heath Legend for getting that on video as well btw, amazing new song of theirs.
The second last track of the night was the last track off of the album (Unless that is Sky Gazer, I might be confused between the two), Gone Wander, solidified my idea that this next album would be the Winning Days to Wicked's Highly Evolved (I've had that idea in my head for the past year or so mind you). By the sounds of these new songs Craig's honed down on an idea & focused with it better than ever (bar 'I Wanna Go Down', which is arguably the heaviest fuckin' thing he's ever done AND I LOVE IT). I'm going in expecting a more stripped back, yet classic psych approach to this 7th album & if the live performances are to go by anything, it should be a consistent release.
SETLIST: (Will post photo of the actual setlist later)
Hate the Sound (New track) Highly Evolved Green Utopia Broken Heart (New track - played previously at Newtown Social Club) Futuretarded Gimme Love Metal Zone Sky Gazer (New track) Get Free I Wanna Go Down (New track) Fly Away Ride Outtathaway Gone Wander (New track) Reincarnation

"Heath Legend" hahahaha. But totally agree! Thank you sooo much Allie for posting those videos. I wish I could've been in Sydney for the show, so seeing that video means so much to me. The song sounds so good and I am now even more excited for the album. But damn, all this is making me so sad - I don't want Craig to release another album of awesome music just to get the lacklustre response Wicked Nature got. I hope the tour (and any more shows) bring some much needed attention to the band.
Brady, thank you for the run-down of the night (and set list!) <3 So happy you got to meet him again.

Thank you so much for sharing allie I already love this new song. I also found another new song (Gone Wander?) on YouTube. This guy also recorded Get Free and Ride if you want to listen to it. Hopefully we will get some recordings from the Melbourne and the Brisbane show too...

Thanks for the updates, you beautiful people!
Anyone else blown away by the inclusion of Futuretarded and Fly Away? That's rad!
Anyone hear of a release date for Miracle Land?

Ahhhh, I am soooo glad to see this news! I was a member of the official forums since 2002, but I've been having terrible trouble trying to log in, so I just made a new account.
Anyway...
THANK YOU very much to those who have been keeping us updated on the recent shows!! The Vines are my favorite band, so seeing these pics and videos means SO much to me. <3
I CAN'T wait for the new album!!!
(Also Allie, I hope this is okay- I re-posted one of your pics on my Facebook, but I added your user name as the credit.)

Performance at the Valley Fiesta in Brisbane was great, best Vines show I've been to. Was very tight and Craig seem healthy and happy. Had a chance to chat with Craig afterwards. He was quite talkative and he said the new album 'In Miracle land' will hopefully come out this year (but I'm guessing more like early next year) and will have 12 song on it. If the songs they played were anything to go by it'll be a fucking sick album. He also said they're doing a photo and video shoot soon (feel guilty about releasing this info but I trust you guys on the forum).

Any different tracks to what was played in Sydney by any chance?

Nah pretty sure it was the exact same. Hate the Sound, I Wanna Go Down, Broken Heart, Sky Gazer and Gone Wander.

Anyone at the Sydney show know why Craig told the crowd to shut up during Broken Heart? Was it just because of all the talking or aimed at a certain person?

I wondered that too when watching the video of it. My guess is because it's a slow number and the crowd was worked up, maybe?

Kind of a toned down version of what I imagine the Annandale Hotel 2004 incident was like. It must be irritating though playing a meaningful song and seeing people talking and playing with their phones!

Yeah! Well, whatever it was, I can kinda see where he's coming from.
At one of the first Vines shows I ever went to, there were two teenyboppers in the front row who would not stop heckling Craig, screaming, "Take off your shirt! I want your shirt, Craig! Take it off! Gimme your shirt!" etc. It was bad and carried over into the second or third song. I was kinda embarrassed that the band had to put up with this, but everyone has good fans and bad fans, I guess. Anyway, the poor guy reached his boiling point, yanked off the shirt and snarled, "Here! Now shove it in her fu*king mouth!"
We know he's all about the music, so when the crowd is into it and cheering, that's cool, but if they're heckling or not paying attention, it must be frustrating.

Haha that's a great story and a great response. Don't think he'd do that now though!

True, that was at one of their earlier US shows. He was under a lot of pressure and stress then. I'm really glad he's able to play live on his own terms now.
