Is it strange that I quite like the fact that only a few people post here? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a few more decent looking girls to sign up like they did on the last one, but other than that, it's nice that it's not full of of complete knobs.

Hmmm, I agree with you there on the knobs for sure. But the fact at how the old forum has what, 200'000+ users and here it just got to 200. Even then it's virtually you, Elena and Suzy who post here regularly. It'd be nice for some others to be on here more often, hopefully the release of album no. 6 and this Nick Littlemore collab will bring some attention here but for now, we have each other to occupy

...AT LEAST 180000 of the old forum members would have been spambots. That place was overflowing with bots. A new release will guide some people here... but we don't need much more action. At least there's comfort in knowing you're communicating with people who genuinely love this band as much as you.

I think I just feel this band is now too over-looked, especially now after seeing the debut listed in the top 50 overrated albums of all time and seeing others agree with it. Like they don't even need to be on this forum for me to count them as fans as well but you see other bands and they have this massive following and I think, "Well, we did have that up until around '05, now it's just slowly withered away to this", I think I'd just like to see people appreciate this band again. And yes the best thing for that is these 2 upcoming releases, yet 'Melodia' peaked at 12 and FP only got to 24 in Australia, just gives me the feeling that it might not get any better. Cliche here within our fanbase but the winning days are gone.

So, yes there is comfort knowing that I'm communicating with people who genuinely love the band. But I just feel that for a band that sold 1.5 million copies of one album, and now only have 200 people on their forum, that it's kinda sad, it well and truly is. Like 10 years is a long time yeah but still. Doesn't anyone get that feeling? Anyone.

I'm not entirely sure what you were expecting, tbh? Let's be honest, The Vines haven't had an album that's been a commercial success for a long time now. Their last effort was garbage. Melodia was superb (probably their second best album) and even that didn't do that well in the charts or in the media. The only fans left here are the ones who have been there since the start. There's never going to be another influx of new fans like there used to be back in the day because they aren't popular in today's market.

On a completely unrelated note, it's more of a tragedy that Explosions in the Sky don't have a huge following. Such a quality act, they really are.

...If you're talking about the FasterLouder list, you should just forget it. I've written for FL, so that should tell you the quality of people they employ. That list was compiled by five or six people who work in their offices, who have no respectable musical authority, run a website that is actively trying to be Australia's answer to pitchfork, and which almost solely caters to a pretentious audience of the kind of pseudo-hipsters who would walk past Debussy playing on the street. That's how utterly disreputable they are. I have personally written for them and I have absolutely no writing talent. Just forget about ANYTHING FasterLouder has said. It really upsets me that people take stuff like that seriously. The people who composed that list DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. Met some Eastern European goddess at work today and ended up speaking to her and having a laugh with her for the entire shift. She's easily one of the most attractive girls I've ever seen in the flesh. Honestly, she's the kind of beauty that would haunt you in your dreams. You know the kind, like, the one you never forget or stop thinking about. We actually share a lot of common ground as well, so that's really nice. She made me really happy when she was around, but now I'm home, I feel so deflated. The bubble's burst.

Anyway, I really wish it wasn't so easy for beautiful women to captulate me the way they do and as much as I love meeting gorgeous girls and having chemistry with them (albiet the chemistry was only in my head), it'd be easier if our paths never crossed. Unfortunately, most of the girls my age here are either married or pregnant by now. The girl I met is married, but I don't know how I feel about that. Married or not, I'm always going to find her attractive and as long as I'm attracted to her, I'll always want her.
