- My top 5 favorite movies these days would be:

American History X is an AMAZING movie, and definitely one of my favorites as well. Let's see......I love: Wonderful movie, recently read the short story by Stephen King, fantastic as well Russell Crowe is one of my favorite actors Christopher Nolan is my favorite director. This movie absolutely BLEW MY MIND at the end. Christian Bale is a very talented and dedicated actor as well. I can't wait until The Dark Knight Rises comes out. Leonardo DiCaprio is another one of my favorite actors (and obsessions). All the Lord of the Rings movies. I love the soundtrack so much. ALL the Toy Story Movies, especially 1 and 3. Toy Story means so much to me in terms of my childhood. I was SOBBING when Toy Story 3 came out and crying all throughout the end. These are all I can think of for now. I recently watched A Clockwork Orange and found that to be quite an intriguing and entertaining movie as well.

I like your selection.
It's very... eclectic.
Yes, Pixar films. Except for Cars. You did not like CARS? I did not like very much Cars 2 :S but I like the first one! The one I do not like very much from Pixar is Bugs :S No, well, I never watched it. I am turned off by the idea of digitally animated cars that speak. XD I'll probably give it a chance one day, but I don't like the idea. - Lydier wrote:

I felt like watching it yesterday because I was listening to the soundtrack. And the Inkspots song that's playing in the car at the beginning. And I have a mild obsession with Tim Robbins. Or more of a crush. I sometimes indulge. - Lydier wrote:

I have never seen that film. I watched American Psycho about three weeks ago and it's the first film where Christian Bale really got me. I saw the first two Batman films and Velvet Goldmine, but there it never felt as if Christian could get out all his potential. Like... Take Leonardo DiCaprio. Which is funny considering the next film you listed. When Leonardo was in his early twenties he really did it. But these days... It's rare that he's in a film that I like very much. Well, to be fair... I don't think anything could beat Total Eclipse... I also like Nolan's style. But I'm not into Batman. I like the Batman films on some level. But not the story. I just don't get this particular genre. I really loved Inception though. - Lydier wrote:

That film was on TV last week, but I didn't watch it. I have to admit, I have a big crush on the guy. When I was 8, I hated the guy. Just because of Titanic. Let's say it traumatised me for 12 years. I didn't see Titanic until 10 years after it was released. [quote="Lydier"] All the Lord of the Rings movies. I love the soundtrack so much. [quote="Lydier"] God bless Howard Shore. This is really his major work. I'm so excited about the Hobbit films. It's ridiculous that they make three films, but then I can get more Howard Shore. (Better not mess this one up.) - Lydier wrote:

He really did a great job on the scores for the Toy Story trilogy. I only saw Toy Story after I saw Toy Story 2 in theatres. I think it's the only trilogy where each film got better and better. A Clockwork Orange is great. But 2001 really blew my mind. Stylistically and also emotionally. The film is pretty gloomy.

Well, to be fair... I don't think anything could beat Total Eclipse... I was deciding to watch Christian Bale movies and I watched American Psycho and Equilibrium. I absolutely loved American Psycho. It had some really hilarious parts. I also watched The Dark Knight Rises when it came out. SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD. About Leonardo DiCaprio, he's one of my favorite actors so I've made past efforts to see all of his movies. Total Eclipse was a great film. If we're talking early Leo, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Basketball Diaries, and The Beach were all amazing movies. You should really watch The Prestige. It's my all time favorite movie and I enjoyed it more than Inception. Anyways, I'm suuuuper stoked for The Hobbit! I rarely go to the theaters to watch movies, but i'm willing to dish out the money for IMAX for movies like The Hobbit and The Dark Knight Rises. Also recently watched a movie I really like. Gattaca. Really interesting concept.

| The Hobbit is one of two films I want to watch this year. My other plan is to see Skyfall. I'm a bit irrational about that one. It's not even about my expectations. I don't think it'll be the greatest film I'll ever see, but I'm still very excited. I'm praying for the best. | |

| OK, I have returned from my hiatus and am excitedly awaiting the German release of Skyfall. I am busy reading lots of reviews and finishing my 22 film project. It's interesting because I kind of got there "by accident". I am by no means a James Bond fan, I really only do what I do because of the director and composer involved. I'm really into Sam Mendes' work, most other filmmakers don't really interest me. I can really see that his primary work - if you can call it that, considering how much time he invests into making his films - still remains in theatre. His film work combines art and film technique in a really unique way. His cinematographer Roger Deakins also works with many other famous directors, but Sam's films I actually care about. Here I can see how bringing the right people together can influence the creation of great films. He's also English, which may not play a big role. But with certain US directors (and some Canadians) I have the feeling that film has become a carricature of itself. I'm not a big fan of directors like James Cameron, even if they have good intentions. Aesthetics still mean more to me than the original ideas. If the idea gets lost, I don't care how brilliant it was in the first place. Anyway, I hope I'll enjoy Skyfall. | |

| Watched that Deep Blue Sea earlier on when I got home from work and I'd forgotten how much I liked that film. Sharks scare the hell out of me... | |
