haha. The Nirvana song is a Leadbelly cover. He actually says the in the recording. How could you miss it?

...and Step On is a proper cover. They changed it a bit, but the general song is pretty much the same. That cool little guitar bit and the "twisting my melon" bit is pure Ryder, though (unless they're sampled from something else). It was originally by a guy called John Kongos.

This is a tough one. There are alot of good covers out there. These are just 5 which came to my mind which I really like.

2. Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam - Nirvana - the distortion version (The Vaselines cover)
3. Where is my Mind? - Placebo (Pixies cover)
4. You've Got To Hide Your Love Away - Eddie Vedder (The Beatles cover)
5. Ms Jackson - The Vines (OutKast cover)

Just realised it was excluding the Vines....so I'll substitute I Am The Walrus - Oasis (The Beatles cover) instead of Ms Jackson - The Vines.

I wonder what the Pearl Jam cover version sounds like. If it is better than the original, because the original is very beautiful, in my opinion.

The Who's version is beautiful, but Pearl Jam and ed's vocal on their cover totally own that song. One of my all time fav songs.

I know only 2 covers, which are better than original except that, what you have already written.

Lake of Fire-Nirvana (Meat Puppets cover) (I think every song that Nirvana covered on MTV Unplugged is better than the original )
