| So there's a thread already on here for your fave Vines album, but what is your favourite album of all time? Me? I'm kinda split between 'Dirt' by Alice In Chains and 'In Utero' by Nirvana | |

Vitalogy by Pearl Jam could almost be it also.

Anysound......discovering Vitalogy is one of the best gems you will find. You can't go past the first 6 tracks on Vitalogy. All crackers. The opener "Last Exit" is my favourite and Immortality is classic. It's also argued that the song is about Kurt Cobain's death.......the lyrics "Scrawl dissolved, cigar box on the floor" possibly referencing Kurt's suicide note and the cigar box found on the floor next to his body.
Some die just to live...

Immortality was one of my instant favourites off the album, along with Nothingman and Better Man. Brilliant tracks and like you said, the entire album is a gem. I can't believe I didn't discover until February of this year (started off with Ten and still have to work my way through a few more albums yet... if only I could find them!). I had no idea that Last Exit could be about Kurt, wow. I'll definitely keep that in mind. I think I'm due for another listen to the album sometime soon, haha.

| Anysound.....How do you do that quote thing?
I tried to do it before but failed miserably.
No. Not Last Exit. The song which may be about Kurt is Immortality. It was written around the time Kurt died. Listen to the lyrics.
Pearl Jam is my fav band....if I had to rank their albums in order, it would be:
1. Vitalogy 2. No Code 3. Yield 4. Vs 5. Ten 6. Backspacer 7. Avocado 8. Riot Act 9. Binaural
Their cds are easy to find. Jb Hi Fi has them all. If you are looking for 1 cd which has all their big songs on it....the greatest hits album Rearviewmirror is pretty good. It's a double cd and has plenty of tracks. It's normally on sale for like $10.
Love Pearl Jam.
P.s. It's Eddie Vedder's birthday tomorrow. Listen to some PJ and sing Happy Birthday Ed.

Just hit the quote button and when you're brought to the window where you can type your reply, ensure you've only got one " [ quote = anysound ] " and " [ /quote ]" around my message. Getting rid of any of your quotes from within my post will help to keep this process more clean and less complicated. Hope that makes sense. Ohh then yes, I knew Immortality could be about Kurt. Thanks for the ranking, that's interesting and should come in handy for when I'm next in a position to choose between PJ albums. I think that's nice you know the prices they're usually at haha, but unfortunately I don't have a JB in my town, and the closest one is 3 hours away. :/ The two Sanity stores in my town are tiny and barely have any Pearl Jam albums at all. I was actually at both of them yesterday and they only had the exact albums I had, for $20 each. I bought all my Pearl Jam albums (except Lost Dogs ) online so I guess I'll have to continue on with that tradition, haha. Oh well, at least I can get them for cheaper online. And yeah, I found out earlier and I made sure tonight was strictly devoted to listening to Pearl Jam/ Eddie Vedder, haha. ^_^ I sure hope he has a good one. I can't believe he's 47, it certainly doesn't show. ^_^

| Thanks for teaching me the quote thing It's nice to know people like you still buy physical cds. There's nothing like getting your hands on a new cd and reading through the booklet and looking at all the artwork etc. The artist has probably put alot of time and thought into that aspect and it's just as important as the music on the cd. I am not a fan of digital downloads because you dont get that same experience. I guess i'm old school. Lost Dogs is an awesome b sides and rarities compilation album. It's interesting that those songs are the throwaway ones. Most of them are good enough to have been on an actual official album. Do you live in a remote part of New South Wales? And yes Ed doesnt really look 47. Good genes I guess. He was a child model when he was young you know. | |

Mine is probably Beat the Devil's Tattoo by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club ...but I also have a special place for Silverchair's Neon Ballroom. It was the first album I ever bought (when I was eight), and that was undeniably the most important event of my life.

And yes Ed doesnt really look 47. Good genes I guess. He was a child model when he was young you know. No problem. I completely agree! I love love love the process of hunting down a CD, finding it, finally holding it in my hands and pining over the artwork and/ or lyrics in the album sleeve as I listen to it for the first time. Digital music can't compare, and I worry what's going to become of physical music in the coming decade/s. And yeah, I often hear of the effort bands go to really crafting their album art and conveying more through it, and you're right, it's clearly there for a reason. It makes it more complete in a way. I was worried buying Lost Dogs would be a bad move (it was the second album of theirs I ever bought) as I thought its quality wouldn't be so great but I was pleasantly surprised. You're right, many of the songs deserved to be a-sides and indeed I enjoy many of them more than some a-sides e.g. Hard to Imagine, Wash, Last Kiss, Strangest Tribe, Sad, Down, Education, Drifting (oh my god! I fell in love with this one instantly and still listen to it a looot) and the last four songs off of disc 1 (these form such a strong, passionate tetralogy). I wouldn't say I live in a remote part of NSW, but it's certainly not a big town (40, 000 people). Haha wow! I did not know that. That's awesome. And oh, I suppose you've seen the holiday message video from Pearl Jam? ^_^

I also worry about that. I dread a day that music shops close for good and bands stop releasing music on physical cds. Hopefully that wont ever happen. My fav songs off Lost Dogs are: Down, U, Whale Song, Undone, Hard to Imagine, Wash, Footsteps, Yellow Ledbetter, Leavin Here, Other Side....Heck I love them all. Yes. I saw the holiday message from PJ. The bit with Eddie in his wrestling mask & speaking spanish was so funny

| [A--B] Life - mewithoutYouBeyond perfect in every sense of the word. Lyrically, it's nothing short of genius. Musically, it's entirely unique. The only band that I've found that has a similar style to mewithoutYou would be La Dispute, but they're self-admittedly heavily mewithoutYou influenced. There's also plenty of other albums that have meant something to me at one point in my life, but all of them fall short when up against this album. | |

That album is so beautiful and sad at the same time. Billy Corgan, I love how he writes and the way he express his feelings.
