Okay guys, I thought after the announcement of the new album & such that we should create a new thread in relation to the album itself. Not the rumour filled & highly dysfunctional thread that was the unknown about the album beforehand.
In relation to this, 'Metal Zone', their first single off the new album has just been released. Along with this a video clip for it has been uploaded to YouTube through Noisey. It's arguably their best stuff since their debut, definitely surpassing the last 2 albums.
Listen to it now, it's just fucking awesome.

Great song, my fav of the 4 we've heard so far. Hoping for a few mellow ones on the album though, think they are always Craig's best

Wow they really are back Have to be unbiased and say that the songs are good but not giving me goosebumps. Anything you say is my favourite buuuut I really want those 6 minute songs. Because that is where Craig really shows his greatness.
That being said this is amazing and really has gotten my hopes up Thank you Craig. I hope they get some sort of success so we keep getting more of this music

Does anyone have easy access to the NME in their own town/country?
You can get it in Australia, just costs a fortune! If not you can buy it as a pdf from their site (or 'elsewhere' for free!).
Probably go with the .pdf version since there's only one newsagent in my town and they hardly do imports

Well, the man can still write a melody, sing and create amazing harmonies. Not really surprised in any case, but still pleasantly surprised. Metal Zone is SUCH a solid tune and I also really love Anything You Say. I think as a whole this new bunch of tracks flow well in style from FP but are a welcome divergent from that album. They're also stronger in general by a long way - especially lyrically - but they don't try and overreach in terms of urgency which is pretty impressive considering the apparent energy of this record. I like where they’re headed with this kind of sound, but I hope we get a few longer ballads thrown in, too.
I think people who doubted The Vines’ return have been shown up already. Really looking forward to hearing the rest of the album. Bring on September.
(SOZ FOR THE SIZE I'M ON MY PHONE) It's not quite the glory that was 2002 BUT HEY THEY'RE MENTIONED ON THE COVER + INTERVIEW!!!!!!

According to the website:
Quote :
If it’s a pre-order or the artist has funded their project you will be charged immediately or if your Artist hasn’t reached their target you’ll be charged when they do (Paypal payments are always charged immediately but PledgeMusic will refund you if the Artist doesn’t reach their target).
Since it's a preorder, it doesn't really matter if they reach their target but it would be nice.
I still haven't decide whether to the get the Shirt + CD + Vinyl pack but maybe next week when I get paid.

I think it's a bit stupid that they took a photo there, where you can clearly see in the background that they set up a backdrop for studio photos. Might be for the album's artwork/booklet though.

I just hope the artwork for Wicked Nature is better than what they've used for the Metal Zone single. It seems to me that a lot of bands these days just don't care as much about album covers like they used to in the past.
Hmmm. I'm trying to decide which package to go with. What has everyone else been ordering?
Any ideas what the t shirt looks like?
I ordered the vinyl and t-shirt package. Always prefer vinyl to CDs (which are pretty pointless now since we get the digital download). I'd have loved to order something more pricey - just to give them the support, but my funds are limited at the moment.
These new tracks are better than everything on Future Primitive. I'm really hoping for a few classic spaced-out psych epics that Craig does so well.

I'd prefer CDs over downloads because I like to have a physical copy to listen to. As well as getting the t-shirt and vinyl with it as well.
I'm getting the cd, vinyl, and t shirt I really wish I could get my hands on those lyric sheets!
I like everything I've heard so far! The new members can really rip! Vampire Craig looks really young from that interview! I'm surprised there isn't more discussion going on about that interview since it is The Vines first since before Future Primitive?
We always knew Craig hates computers, but if he helped produce this project, does that mean he took a step towards operating advanced technology? Or could he be going analogue?
Write back soon everyone, its a great time to be alive and a Vines fan!
