Oh my God, one of my flatmates finds River Phoenix attractive!!! We watched Dogfight today. Me for the first time. And, omg, she said "Oooohhhh, I'd like River Phoenix to take me out for dinner, too." And I just thought, "Omggggggg, me too!!!!" Vegan mind fuck. And she'd go on about how good he looks all the time while we were watching the film. Oh honey, you have no idea. Omg, I'm so obsessed. But he's beautiful. Why did he have to die?!?! That girl will get random River Phoenix comments from now on. For real. I'm gonna go on about how he was the best vegan ever, the greatest actor and he was friends with Keanu Reeves. Awhahaha, I can't stop myself. But really... Best day ever.

- What awesome thing are you studying that lets you watch Rear Window?!!! I studied film at university, and I never got to do anything cool like answer questions about Rear Window. Man, if I could devote my life to one thing (other than BRMC and The Vines), it would be the ridiculously in depth analyses of Hitchcock films.
Going through my head is WHY THE HELL DO I ALWAYS FORGET MY EARPLUGS?!?!!! 19 years old and already suffering from serious tinnitus. Haha awhh. I'm not at uni, I'm in year 12, so it's just for my English Extension 1 class. We're doing Crime Fiction and Rear Window is one of three texts we're studying this year. Want to do my exam for me? haha. And awhh no, that sucks. : ( I've had bad ears my entire life. I used to get ear infections all the time as a kid and now I have blocked Eustachian tubes due to my allergies and sinus problems meaning my ears hurt a lot of the time (I take medicine for that now). I had tinnitus for a short while once and it drove me crazy - it was either due to stress or my Eustachian tubes being stupid; I'm hoping it was temporary. I'm so paranoid about getting tinnitus again that I seriously reconsider going to concerts I want to go to. But I think it's really good you're aware of the risk of it and actually do something to prevent it. I will definitely take ear plugs to every concert I go to from now on. I think it's terrible how so few people are not aware of the risk of hearing damage/ tinnitus posed by loud music when it is so common and can be so life-changing. And it's ridiculous how lame it apparently is to wear earplugs to concerts. Also, I often wonder how many musicians have tinnitus. - Rusty wrote:
Ouch. That sounds really painful, in spite of what Howl wrote up there lol
btw Never seen Rear Window, so I'm not in a position to pronouce any judgement as to its artistic value and such ;p It's a good film, I quite enjoyed it but once I got past the 4 hour point of analysing it so in depth I started to go a little insane... And I found out why! Apparently this task was a term-long task. "You did it all in one day?! [laughs] You had till week 8!" Obviously I didn't know. Oh well, at least I'm done for now haha.

So you do crime fiction? Awesome What are the other two texts??
.....
Doesn't Craig suffer from tinnitus?? I remember reading something about it the other day...
Haha, I'm so stupid. :') And yep, we do. The other texts are P.D. James' The Skull Beneath the Skin and The Real Inspector Hound, a play by Tom Stoppard. But we don't study them for a while. And I have no idea. Oh and look! Or rather, listen! Clicky!

Ohh, I love P.D. James, have read all her books And the Skull is one of her very best, you'll love it (I hope ) Kinda pity you don't do Ruth Rendell, she's the best crime writer ever (her stuff is so brilliantly creepy lol) - Anysound wrote:

So I guess you're the one to go to if I need some advice on essays I'll write about it, then? Well actually, I need to read some related texts (to include in essays as comparisons and such), so if you want to recommend a good one by Ruth Rendell, that would be really helpful. - Rusty wrote:

So have I! ^_^ Yes he is. Awhh, thank you! Downloaded. ^_^ But I feel bad, how does he make money if his songs are so freely available? (And I mean freely in every sense of the word). - Rusty wrote:

Ohh, it's rather difficult cos she's written so many books that are simply unparalleled in their exquisiteness lol Basically, her output can be divided into 3 categories: 1 Inspector Wexford series (here's your traditional sequence: murder + detective + solution = the criminal is duly punished ;p) [although I oversimplify things here as with Rendell nothing is really, well... that simple lol] 2 stuff that is sometimes referred to as whydunnit, in which she offers deeper insights into the dark side of the human mind; here you'll find classic Rendell characters, people mentally disturbed, social misfits etc. Very often the killer is the main character, and we see the world through his/her eyes, and I can tell you it produces a very disturbing and powerful effect lol Totally creepy, like I said 3 novels written under the pseudonym Barbara Vine**, in which the psychological element is of primary importance (though the crime bit is always present) **ain't that just freakin' awesome? OK, I can recommend one book from each category: 1 "The babes in the wood" (this is an Inspector Wexford novel, and I've chosen this one because there is a kind of parallel between The Skull's Clarissa and The Babes' Joanna Troy) 2 "A demon in my view", which is about a heavily disturbed guy who has this uncontrollable urge to kill women (he devises a brilliant - from his point of view anyway ;p - way to give vent and at the same time control this urge) 3 "A dark-adapted eye" which deals with dark family secrets One more! "Talking to strange men" Here, a bunch of schoolboys play at being spies and send coded messages to one another. By a strange turn of events other people get caught in it, and all this results in... OK, I'll say no more, except that it's something truly tremendous (I walked in a sort of daze for a couple of days after I read that book lol) - Anysound wrote:

Weird innit
It is! I just listened to a heap of PJ ones and I'm torn between being immensely offended and confused or overjoyed and mind blown. haha. Oh and I'm reminded that I saw the cover for "Babies Go Oasis" a few months ago and only now do I know what it was for. The Wonderwall one was kinda cute. Mind, this is undeniably awesome.
